Opened on June 8, 2005, Pera Museum is a private museum established by the Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation to provide qualified and large-scale cultural and artistic services. It operates in a building that was constructed as a contemporary and well-equipped museum by preserving the facade of the historic Bristol Hotel in Tepebaşı within the framework of a project prepared by the restorer architect Sinan Genim in the 2003-2005 period. Pera Museum shares the “Orientalist Painting”, “Anatolian Weights and Measures” and “Kütahya Tiles and Ceramics” collections belonging to the Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation and the values ​​represented by these collections with the public through exhibitions, publishing products, oral events, educational events and scientific studies, and aims to pass them on to future generations.

Among them are Tate Britain, Victoria and Albert Museum, St. Pera Museum, which produces joint art projects with the world’s leading museums, collections and foundations such as the St. Petersburg State Russian Museum, the JP Morgan Chase Collection, the New York School of Visual Arts and the Maeght Foundation, has introduced the works of world master artists such as “Jean Dubuffet”, “Henri Cartier-Bresson”, “Rembrandt”, “Niko Pirosmani”, “Josef Koudelka”, “Joan Miró”, “Akira Kurosawa”, “Marc Chagall”, “Pablo Picasso”, “Fernando Botero”, “Frida Kahlo”, “Diego Rivera” and “Goya” to our country’s art lovers through periodic exhibitions. Since its opening, Pera Museum has organized exhibitions supporting young artists in cooperation with national and international education and art institutions every year and also supports all of its exhibitions with books, oral activities and children’s education programs. Pera Film, which attracts attention with its periodic programs and events, organizes comprehensive screenings for visitors and cinema enthusiasts, ranging from classics to independent films, animations and documentaries, sometimes parallel to exhibitions.

Pera Museum is free to everyone on Fridays between 18:00 and 22:00, and free to all students on Wednesdays. It is always free for Pera Museum Friends, the disabled and one person accompanying each disabled person, children aged 12 and under, ICOM card holders, MMKD members and members of the press.

Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation was founded by Suna Kıraç, İnan Kıraç and İpek Kıraç on October 27, 2003, to provide material and spiritual opportunities to individuals and institutions to raise useful and patriotic citizens for the Turkish society, to contribute to social life and to this end, to work in the fields of education, culture, art and health.

Pera Museum, which opened its doors in early June 2005, is the first step of a comprehensive cultural initiative launched by the Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation to provide cultural and artistic services in this distinguished location of the city.

Pera Museum is closed on Sundays and Mondays. It is open on other days. In addition, it is free for everyone on Fridays between 18:00 and 22:00 and for all students on Wednesdays.

It helps you to have a sufficient and enjoyable time to examine and absorb all the collections in Pera Museum within a 1-hour period.

The museum card is not accepted at the entrance. I paid 100 TL and went in. I was lucky to come at the time when the museum guide started explaining and I had the honor of listening to him, he explained very well and touched on different points. Later, when this explanation ended on the top floor, the crowd dispersed suddenly, but there were 4 more floors, I continued to tour them calmly. I was pleased, there are very beautiful works, especially the VR version of the Turtle Trainer, it was a different experience. But it is recommended not to get too close to the painting, I got a little closer to see the details of the work, the alarm rang :)
