Bartın City Museum, which was implemented by Bartın Municipality in 2018, has hosted 149,862 guests since its opening. The historical building on Government Street, which was opened as a Junior High School in Bartın in 1885, served as the Republic School between 1924-1947, and as the Bartın Municipality Building between 1953-2008, was opened as the City Museum on January 27, 2018, the anniversary of the founding of the Ottoman Empire. Many works related to the political, economic and cultural history of Bartın are exhibited in the two-storey City History and Culture Museum.
More than 2,000 Works are Exhibited in the Museum
The first floor of the two-storey museum contains works related to geography, rare creatures in our city, climate and chronological history, demography, transportation history and disasters. On the upper floor, economy, shipbuilding, traditional professions, women’s market “Galla Market”, architecture and urban texture, management, education, health, press and communication, culture-art, sports history, tourism, culinary culture, oral history, cultural structure. The following sections welcome us. The museum, which was prepared using the developing technology, has 15 kiosks, 15 wax sculptures, 60 tablet audio guides, 1 newspaper translated into Ottoman Turkish and 1 interactive mani application. More than 2,000 works in total are exhibited.
