One of the most painful earthquakes in the history of the Republic occurred in Erzincan on December 27, 1939. The monument erected as an expression of gratitude to National Chief İsmet İnönü, who showed great interest in the re-establishment of the city, was completed. The monument was ordered and built by Ratip Aşir Acudoğlu in 1944. This statue became the symbol of the Erzincan earthquake. In front of the pedestal, there are 3 statues the natural size of the human body. A woman (Mother Motherland) in the middle gives the key to the newly founded city to the man from Erzincan on her right. The man on the left gives a wreath to the worker who founded the new city.
