Founded in 1987, this bright, simple museum displays cultural and archaeological artifacts.
The efforts to establish the first museum in Nevşehir were initiated as a result of the efforts of the Central Library Director of the time, Hamit Özalp. The historical artifacts that Özalp collected from the surrounding area in 1963-1964 were stored in a room of his library. In 1966, the Soup House and Sübyan School, which were part of the Damat İbrahim Pasha Complex, were restored by the Ministry of Culture to be used as a museum and opened to visitors in 1967. In 1987, it was moved to its current location within the Cultural Site. The museum has two exhibition halls: archaeological and ethnographic.
As an open-air museum, the area around Nevşehir province is one of the largest open-air museums in the world, with its ruins, underground cities and churches that are open to visitors. It entered renovation on August 31, 2023. The museum will be opened when the works are completed.
You can visit the museum for free, there are two floors of beautiful works inside.
There is no parking lot, the area is available for parking. Entry is free. An old building would suit a more beautiful museum in Nevşehir.
It's a small museum. Two floors. There is an archeology department on the ground floor. There is an ethnography section on the upper floor.
There is a ramp for disabled individuals and an automatic disabled apparatus when going upstairs.
It is a beautiful museum in its own way. It has valuable things. It is beautiful even though it is not big. The old flag and fossils caught my attention. I recommend you to stop by while passing by. I liked that there are elevators for the disabled. The employees are attentive. Entrance is free.
